I think my question would be to why bother with the site? There are less than 200 items on there, the registration process is not secure (so others may be able to see your personal details when you register) and there does not seem to be any indication of who the site owners are. Equally disturbing, one of the featured items on the front page is what is described as a "Replica Louis Vuitton Bag" from a seller in Thailand. It seems to be a UK site, so it is illegal to allow that to be sold as it is a breach of copyright and trade mark laws. My advice is to leave the site well alone and be thankful your registration hasn't completed.

There are plenty of alternatives. You will be quite safe with any of these:
eBid
Tazbar
Specialist Auctions
Zolanta
Auctions Worldwide

Hi Paul

I understand what you're saying. I like to try lots of sites too, but I won't register unless the registration process is secure, the ownership is disclosed, there are no dodgy items and there are a decent number of items listed. The very small sites tend to appear and then disappear quite rapidly. I've been on some where that has happened and its meant all my listings have disappeared too, which is a real pain. But the ones I mentioned all meet my requirements and have people behind them who are trying to make a success of them.

Hi Monev77

In reply to your question, Auction Demon is a small auction site. If you want to look at it, go to the Auction Lotwatch home page, chose the UK Auction sites list from the menu on the left, then near the bottom of the list you'll find a link.

Hi again Enthusiast, i can imagine it was a pian having your listings disappear like that.Im a member of most of the sites you have mentioned but i tend to get a bit fed up if things go slowly.Im not the most patient person, lol. I am also a member of bid2go which seems a nice site and friendly people on the forums. I also like to try online carboots as well and am on 2 of them but early days yet as one only has 2 registered users.I was on Tazbar but decided to cancel my membership.Must admit Tazbar does look very nice . I will definately not join anymore sites . I will be joining Tazbar again though.

Hi Paul
I think the problem at the moment is even the bigger sites have slowed down as far as sales are concerned because there is less money around. Maybe as Christmas is rapidly approaching there will be more activity. Tazbar is a well-run site but I never made much progress selling on there, but I do still buy the occasional item.

As to bid2go, it does have a secure registration process, but it doesn't have some of the other things I look for, and most importantly it doesn't have much listed. I've wondered about online car boot type sites but I haven't taken the plunge yet. If I went for one it would need to have a lot, lot more than 2 members!

Hi again, there's less money going around my wallet as well, lol. Im what u called scint and was hoping that these new sites would of helped me buy and sell and make a profit at the same time. Maybe as time goes by bid2go will get more people on it. The carboots which im on are www.fullcarboot.com and www.caboot.co.uk Have no idea how many people are on the 2nd one but a lot more than the 1st. I didnt have much luck in selling anything on Tazbar and after a while i just got fed up.Maybe i should of given it a bit longer but as i said patience isnt a strong point of mine. Hope it was ok putting those 2 websites up.

Hi enthusiast,
I have been trying to see what difference you can find between Zolanta and Bid-2-Go,they have more items for sale, but you would expect that if they've been around long enough to have a re launch. They have T & C's,although the ones on Bid-2-Go are not the basic free to everyone, copy and paste type. Both have contact address but neither disclose the owners names.
I get very disheartened with these type of forums when one person can either help or hinder a start up site by merely giving personnal preference of one site that appears to be no different to another.
A less trusting person could throw out accusations of nepotism.

Hi Quackers,
Nice to see you mention Bid-2-Go, keep up the good work Wink

The sites I recommended were ones I'd either used myself or were recommended and used by people with whom I have dealt with elsewhere and whose opinions I believe are reliable. Therefore I could safely recommend them to others. In the case of Zolanta it is owned by a limited company and it is not a legal requirement that the actual directors/owners of that should be stated. They give the registered office & company registration number too. This compares very favourably with a lot of sites being pushed on this forum where the ownership is not stated.

Other people are free to give their views and if you push your site in a forum like this you must expect to receive robust comments and you have the right to respond. I'm sure the fate of your site isn't going to hang on whatever my views are. As to your hint of nepotism, frankly that is complete tosh. I don't own or have any financial interest in any auction site, nor do I have any relatives or friends who do. Therefore I don't have any particular axe to grind, but if there is something not right with a site then I'm going to express my views here & elsewhere. Equally when a site is good I'm going to say so, even if that annoys people trying to get yet another "eBay-killer" off the ground. History proves that most such sites will be terminal basket cases within a year but the good sites will succeed and stand out like shining beacons in a sea of mediocrity.

Hi,
I've just had the time to read your last post and I'm quite surprised, and a bit disappointed, to see how little you really do look into some of the sites you recommend. It is, as I thought you would be aware, a requirement to have a registered office if you are registered as a limited company. If you do not have an office, as is the case of your "favourable" site, you simply use the address of a mail forwarding company. It is perfectly legal, but does give an impression that is not always justified. It's really just a glorified P.O. box.
Also, software and server packages seem to play no part in your analysis on certain sites. You would think that a low budget software package being run on a low budget shared server is an important factor when giving any critique. Especially when they are running a good forum package along with the auction site, I assume you know how power hungry forums can be. This will have a knock on effect, causing slow page loading or even timing out completely on a regular basis, so if this ocurrs now, when the site does get busy it will simply crumble under the pressure. The fact that it doesn't have the power to light a 25 watt bulb, let alone a "shining beacon" doesn't seem to concern you.
I could go on, but quite frankly, I can't be bothered. Your opinions come across, still, as completely bias and what ever I say will obviously and curiously not change them.
