Hi all,

I am new to this site and would like to say Hi to everyone! I am a real estate agent in the Costa del Sol and would love to discuss with everyone the charges eBay are charging for listing properties and general items.

Its costing me around1700 a month in advertising fees. This is extortionate wouldnt you say?

Does anybody else agree with me?

Let me know if you know of any other great auction sites with cheaper listing fees. I am in the process of searching for some other sites.....

I look forward to your much needed help....

Thanks Sue x

Hi Sue

I agree with you but the situation is that eBay currently has far more listings & sales than any other similar sites. So they can get away with very high fees.

However there are lots of alternatives.

A good international site is www.specialistauctions.com It is aimed primarily at collectors but other things sell there too. Although there is no property section at present, the owners will consider additional categories if you can show that you will have a substantial number of listings. There are no listing fees and FVF is only 3%. The sell-through rate averages just under 10% but much higher in certain categories. Finding out similar figures for other similar sized UK based sites is almost impossible so I conclude they are much lower!

Nevertheless it's worth considering eBid and Tazbar in the UK. There's also www.auctionsworldwide.net/ It's a much smaller site but making some progress. It's closely monitored by the owner to make sure nothing dodgy goes on there and you can't, unfortunately, say the same of most of the small sites. Also if you look on the auctionlotwatch main site you'll find a link to a list of US sites. I don't know much about them but some seem to be quite big. Best of luck!

Hi Sue,

I can understand where you are coming from in regards to the sellers fee's on eBay.
Yes eBay is by far the best auction site with millions of viewer but with the recession these days people cant afford to fork out alot of money specially if the item doesnt sell you lose the money.

I found a site that the gentle before this post is talking about, it offers FREE listing and you can even have your own shop for FREE until 1st June.

On there you can list items for 2 months and still its FREE it really is a must see site register and list a few items to check it out at the end of the day you will not be losing any money.

www.grabthatonline.co.uk

defently the way forward specially in these hard financial times

Of course this naff little site has nothing to do with you has it Dannybecks..
If you're trying to play the independant observer at least keep in mind what you post in this forum. One day you've 'found a site' and the next you're promoting it as the joint owner that you almost certainly are... most people here are not as daft as you would like to think they are.

Try to remember which member account you're using in future Rolling Eyes
