Hi all - okay as you have probably guessed I'm new here and yes, I've also been watching that program about lost luggage at airports being auctioned off. I never thought how interesting and fascinating this process can be and I would love to go along to an auction house just to gauge how things go. So my question is does anybody know, or even better, has ever been to one of theses auctions please? Also are there any held in Scotland - where I live? Who auctions the baggage for Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow airports please? Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of lost baggage auctions but I have been to a self storage auction though. Storage units are auctioned off if the renters have defaulted in their monthly payments for 3 months or so depending on the agreement lease. It was pretty exciting as I got to see what treasures or junk lie beneath the individual units.

I have heard about it before and it works like any other auctions. Every unit of lost baggage will be left until a certain period of time and if nobody claims it, then all accumulated bags will be put up for auction. However, the event is often a closed affair so only regulars are aware of it.
