| The east european sites, particularly the Polish ones, seem to be the source of much of their profits. Certainly it's dificult to believe the UK site contributed anything, indeed it is so quiet and small these days it is probably a bit of a loss-maker. |

I would imagine that with the take-over things will start to change on that front. I predict that this time next year we will have a very dfferent conversation about this one.CheersSteve |

| Hi Steve
I think it's impossible to predict what the new owners will do with the UK site. They might want to concentrate on the other sites which all make money and perhaps continue to open new ones in eastern Europe, which would probably mean closing the UK site. I don't see how they could just leave it as it is because listings have dropped. A few weeks back they were down to around 5,500 items. The site no longer gives the total which is not surprising.
If they decide to keep the site then I would have thought that meant doing some serious work on it, like Tazbar which has been discussed here in another thread. As it is both in terms of listings and sales they appear to have now dropped behind ebid, Tazbar, probably CQOut and certainly behind Specialist Auctions, and even behind the UK arm of Delcampe and of course ebay. Indeed it's difficult to find much evidence of selling activity on QXL UK at all. The forum (called the cafe) is virtually dead.
So yes it will be interesting to resume this conversation in a year's time, but I doubt whether we'll have to wait that long before something of significance happens! |
